Who We Are

Prevention Educators is Western New York’s only consulting firm dedicated to social justice and violence prevention education. Founded in 2004, we have provided training to approximately 4,500 people through over 100 different programs. Our trainers have many years of experience providing community education and we look forward to serving you!

Founders

Andrea Nikischer, M.S.

Ms. Nikischer is an educator with ten years of experience providing violence prevention workshops to schools and community groups. She has provided over 1,000 educational programs and trainings in Western New York. Ms. Nikischer began her career as a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Victim Advocate at Crisis Services of Western New York. She went on to become the Education Director of the Citizens’ Committee on Rape, Sexual Assault and Sexual Abuse (CORSA), and she served two terms as the Chairwoman of the Erie County Coalition Against Family Violence. Currently, Ms. Nikischer is the Statewide Office Project Manager for the New York State Area Health Education Center System. Additionally, she teaches the Family Violence and the Medical Provider unit of the Clinical Practice of Medicine (CPM 1) for the University at Buffalo’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Ms. Nikischer has received awards for her work in violence prevention education from the Erie County Coalition Against Family Violence and the National Organization for Women. Ms. Nikischer completed her Masters Degree in Adult Education in December 2002. She is currently a PhD student in the University at Buffalo Graduate School of Education.

Amy Fleischauer, L.M.S.W.

Ms. Fleischauer supervises two unique client programs at the International Institute of Buffalo: Human Trafficking Victim Services, a program that she has developed as the first comprehensive support for victims of sex and labor slavery in Western New York and Family Preventive Services, the only Preventive Program for vulnerable immigrant and refugee clients in this part of the State. Previously, Ms. Fleischauer directed the Diocesan Service Corps of the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, a program that provides spiritual and social justice training for young adults. Ms. Fleischauer has recently completed a two-time elected term on the Executive Committee of the Erie County Coalition Against Family Violence. She is a Team Leader for Habitat for Humanity's International Global Village program and speaks regularly to local youth groups and college students about leadership skills, service, and various issues of social justice. Additionally, she is Field Educator within the University at Buffalo School of Social Work.

Ms. Fleischauer obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University with a concentration in the areas of violence, substance abuse and homelessness. She has worked in the areas of domestic violence, juvenile justice, foster care, special education and substance abuse treatment in several major cities across the country.

Jeanette Koncikowski, Ed.M.

Ms. Koncikowski is an educator and mental health advocate who has provided over 500 seminars and trainings on violence prevention and intervention. Ms. Koncikowski began her training career as a member of the Speaker’s Bureau of the Erie County Citizens’ Committee on Rape, Sexual Assault and Sexual Abuse (CORSA). She has served as the Director of Education for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, as well as the Program Director for the Kids’ Helpline at Crisis Services, where she helped to launch one of the nation’s first online crisis counseling sites, www.kidscrisis.com. Ms. Koncikowski currently works as a Senior Child Welfare Education Specialist at Buffalo State College and is also an adjunct faculty member in the Psychology Department at Trocaire College.

Ms. Koncikowski has been invited to speak at national and international conferences on violence prevention, and has published several articles focusing on violence against women. She graduated from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education with a Masters Degree in Education in 2001, with concentrations in Human Development, Psychology, and Gender Studies. In May 2007, she received her certificate in Trauma Counseling through the University at Buffalo School of Social Work.
